Police in Kawale, Lilongwe are keeping in their customer a 36-year-old Dan Kachilonda, Head Teacher for Chifuniro Private Secondary School on suspicion that he stole school funds worthy MK4.5 Million.
Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kawale Police Station Sergeant Kuyere Mtikwa, said the incident occurred on August 22, 2022 at Chifuniro Private Secondary School In Area 23.
Mtika explained that the owner of the said school noticed the shortfall of MK4.5 million during auditing of school funds.
When quizzed of the matter, the suspect failed to account himself for the missing of the said amount.
The rumours spread all over the campus a thing which angered the students who resorted into violence around the campus.
Banda will appear before court to answer the charge of theft which contravenes Section 278 of the Penal Code.
He hails from Kambalame Village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Mkumbira in Nkhatabay District.
