In keeping with its tradition of encouraging the girl-child to excel in academics, Maranatha Academy says it will hold a ‘Brilliant Students Banquet’ for its high performing students.
In particular, the institution has planned to honour Esther Chavula who has passed this year’s Junior Certificate Examinations with flying colours.
Managing Director for Maranatha Academy, Enerst Kaonga applauded all form two students for registering a 100 percent pass rate and encouraged them to keep raising the bar.
“This is undoubtedly excellent performance from Esther Chavula, that’s what we expect the girl-child to do. As a way of encouraging other girls, we will hold a banquet for all best students and a K500,000 cash prize will be given to Chavula,” said Kaonga.
Meanwhile, Kawonga has hailed government and Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) for handling the 2021 JCE Examinations professionally.
“As Maranatha we are impressed. The 2021 exams were handled professionally and if we continue taking this path the quality of education standards will keep improving in this country,” he said.
Maneb disclosed that out of the 63,513 female candidates who sat for this examination, 45,346 have passed representing a 71.40% pass rate.
The national examinations body also said 66,415 male candidates who sat for the 2021 examinations, 53,407 have passed, representing 80.41% pass rate.
