Deputy Labour Minister Vera Kamtukule has been implicated in the merciless plunder of MK6.2 billion Covid-19 funds.
This follows revelation by her Principal Secretary, Dickson Chunga at a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) inquiry held in Lilongwe on Wednesday.
During the session, Member of Parliament for Lilongwe City Centre, Alfred Jiya asked the PS to explain in detail how the money was used.
According to Chunga, the money was used to conduct a Tripartite Labour Advisory meeting in Salima district.
“The money was used by delegates, Minister and his Deputy Minister who at the end shared the money,” said Chunga.
Last week, President Lazarus Chakwera fired Labour Minister Ken Kandodo for using the COVID-19 funds to travel to South Africa.
Meanwhile, the public is waiting in the wings on how President Chakwera will handle this.
