Mzimba police are keeping in custody a 67-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man for uttering a fake document on February 02, 2021, at mzimba trading in mzimba district.
The two have been identified as Brandina Nkhoma of Chihepa village under Traditional Authority Mabulabo in Mzimba and Christopher Melee of Milamba village under the Traditional authority kyungu of karonga district respectively, of their age.
The facts of the matter are that the reporter works at Mzimba community radio while the suspects have their organisation. The reporter and the suspects wrote a proposal to the United Nations (UN) Women seeking the funds. The proposal passed and fund was provided into the radio’s account.
later the suspects opened another account and wanted to divert funds into their account from UN Women and were rejected by the donors.
afterwhile the reporter discovered that one of the accused’s organisation member was dismissed and the dismissal form had the radio’s log on top. the reporter also discovered that they have been writing memos to UN Women requesting the change of Bank account of the radio and start using accused organisation’s account and was signed by Brandina who does not belong to the radio.
Then the reporter reported the matter to Mzimba police station and the police arrested two suspects.
One suspect Prisca Soko is at large, the investigations are underway to arrest her.
Brandina and Christopher will appear before court soon to answer a charge of uttering a fake document contrary to section 360 of the penal code.
