Blantyre Marathon third edition is back this year after failing to host it last year due to covid-19 restrictions.
The competition is now an annual event and will be hosted on 20 June, this is according to Unkhankhu Ng’oma who is the marketing and communications officer for the Blantyre Marathon main organizing committee.
“We hope that by June Covid-19 infection rate will drop, but if this will not be the case we will host the competition by following all necessary preventive measures.” Said Ng’oma.
He revealed that this year’s date has been arrived at following concerns in the past on weather condition hence fixing the date in June which is the cold season.
Unkhankhu added that as per their culture they always partner with other stakeholders and at the moment they are still in consultations with partners and will announce in due course who they will partner for the event.
“Last year we partnered with kachere rehabilitation center and now we are still in consultations.Normally as Blantyre Marathon we have social responsibility to do from the proceeds of the event and very soon we will announce our partners.” He Added.
Blantyre Marathon is an annual event that brings together different athletes to complete for various prizes in preparation for international big acts.
