An unidentified pedal cyclist in Machinga has died after being hit by the motor vehicle.
The accident occurred on January 6 2021 at Kabawi Bridge along Liwonde – Mangochi Road.
It is reported that Sani White was driving an Iveco lorry registration number MH9765 from the direction of Mangochi heading Liwonde with three passengers on board.
Upon arrival at the above stated bridge, due to speeding he lost control and hit unknown pedal cyclist who was cycling towards the same direction.
Following the impact, the cyclist sustained severe head injuries and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Machinga District Hospital.
The cyclist is of medium built and black in complexion and he wore a soft black jeans and plastic sandals. On this fateful day, he was riding a red sports bicycle.
Police in the district are therefore urging the community to report to police if any of their relative bearing such descriptions went missing on that day.
Meanwhile, the deceased body is being kept at Machinga District Hospital Mortuary pending identification.
