A man in Dowa district has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 15 year old girl. The suspect has been identified as Thomas Edward.
Police say the offense was committed earlier this week in Masinja village in the district. Suspecting members of community tipped the victim’s father of an ordeal between the two at a nearby garden.
Along with other villagers, the father moved swiftly only to find the man forcing himself on the girl.
According to Dowa Police Publicist, Gladson M’bumpha, the villagers then took the suspect to police before the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for examination an treatment.
Edward will appear before court soon to answer charges of defilement. and he hails from Chinyama Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mkukula in Dowa.
